Pressure reducing hose valves and floor control valves are used to control the pressure of flowing water in standpipe and sprinkler systems. NFPA requires pressure reducing valves where the inlet pressure exceeds 175 PSI. These pressure reducing valves are of the factory set variety. This means an engineer or contractor would fill out a data sheet to the exact specifications of what each valve needs to be set at so that the manufacturer can set the values accordingly and without the possibility of error.
