Pressure reducing hose valves and floor control valves are used to control the pressure of flowing water in standpipe and sprinkler systems. NFPA requires pressure reducing valves where the inlet pressure exceeds 175 PSI. The field adjustability of these valves gives the installer/engineer the option to set the desired PSI rating themselves versus having the manufacturer do it.
